Madonna MDNA concert tour which kicked off in Tel Aviv — finally reached Italy with the first show in Rome. More than a concert this has been a show performance, an arrey of video clips done on stage. There is no surprise performance in accoustic, no vocals too long or a conversation with the public too personal, cause everything is planned to the second. By the end of the show no one realised it was over cause just like in a movie the last song ended, the lights went on and we were off to the exit. I wasn't expecting more than this, with such a huge show and the calendar dates so close to each other everything is too perfectly organised.
The Olympic stadium in Rome was packed with 50.000 fans. For the first time I saw a multitude of fans that I've never seen before. In 30 years of career she has taken along 3 generations of music lovers.
The looks were great. Among the designers collaborating on this tour we find Jean Paul Gaultier reinventing his famous bra, this time made out in rigid form skeleton corset. Jeremy Scott, has provided the playful costumes of the back dancers. Dolce & Gabbana has done the suits for the band and vocalists. Shoes from Prada and Miu Miu. While the lingerie is from Madonn's own brand 'Truth or Dare' and the famous cheeky performance of 'Like a Vergin' made in Agent Provocateur bra.
In Istanbul the show included a nipple coming out of the bra while in Rome we had a the 'luck' to see live some buttocks. The reason behind these too well planned provocative movements seems to be a way to get MDNA on the first pages. I was actually more shocked about the mash up of Born This Way, She is Not Me and Express Yourself which sent a clear message to Lady Gaga. I didn't know Madonna had the need to make things clear about who was the Queen of Pop.
