Black Cats Are Lovely

General beliefs on black cats suggest that when one crosses your way, then you get bad luck. Poor kittys are always getting a bad reputation by some superstitious silliness. In my appartment building we get to feed and take care of a few cats. They have no owner, they are the builidng's cats and everyone contributes in their keeping. One of them happens to be a black one, with wonderful icy eyes. So everytime I go outside in the garden 'Nerone' is there asking for cuddles. He has been crossing my way for 3 years and nothing really horrible has ever happened. Yes sure I've never won the lottery, but that is because I never play. 

In Italy there exist many superstitions, most of which are a problem only for Italians.One that bothers me particularly is that you can never make a toast with an non-alcoholic drink. I rarely drink any alcohol so I'm left out of the toasts most of the time. Another one is about never putting the wallet on the bed otherwise you'll run short of money. If I had left the wallet on the bed and forgot it there instead of carrying it with me in the bag I think I'd be a millionaire by now. Anything that prevents compulsive shopping is fine with me.

Is there any superstition that bothers you?

Il pensiero generale sui gatti neri suggerisce che quando uno ci taglia la strada, dobbiamo aspettarci un pò di sfortuna. Poveri gattini, hanno una brutta reputazione dovuta alla scioccha superstizione. Nel mio palazzo abbiamo vari gatti dei quali ci prendiamo cura un pò tutti. Uno di loro capita che sia nero con dei meravigliosi occhi di ghiaccio. Quindi, ogni volta che vado fuori 'Nerone' è li in giardino che chiede coccole. Ha tagliato la mia strada per 3 anni quasi ogni giorni, e non è successo mai niente di terribile. Certo non ho mai vinto la lotteria, sarà perché non ho mai giocato.

In Italia vi sono molte superstizioni, la maggior parte delle quali sono un problema solo per gli Italiani. Una che mi da particolarmente fastidio è il non poter fare un brindisi con una bevanda non alcolica. Raramente bevo alcolici quindi sono lasciata fuori dai brindisi la maggior parte del tempo. Un altra è il non mettere il portafoglio sul letto altrimenti il denaro se ne va. L'unica cosa a cui penso è che se avessi lasciato il portafogli sul letto dimenticandolo li, invece di portarlo con me nella borsa, adesso sarei ricca di qualche migliaia di euro in più. La vedrei più come una pratica contro lo shopping compulsivo.

C'è qualche superstizione che vi dà fastidio?
