CHATEAU DE VERSAILLES VISIT The first time I wished to visit Paris was at the age of 9, and that was not because I was fascinated by the Tour Eiffel. When I was a child I used to watch this manga cartoon called Lady Oscar (goes also by the title The Rose of Versailles) and I dreamt of visiting Versailles. The setting of the cartoon was in France before and after the revolution and featured also Marie Antoniette. I remember watching the long walks Oscar (the main character) had with the queen in the beautiful gardens. I was fascinated by the palace and its salons.
I visited Versailles for the first time this December. This is the my favorite month for important visits. I think I've entered every European 'must see' site in December, including the Colosseum, because I hate staying in a line for hours and I can't stand visiting crowded places. As I had imagined there was no line, even if it was a Saturday and I enjoyed taking my time to analyze every room, every painting and have my long dreamt walk in the gardens.
While walking through the salons I couldn't stop thinking of the events that this palace has gone through; the dinners, the balls and of course the revolution.
Now that I fulfilled the wish to visit the palace, when I'll be back in Paris I'll go again just to have a walk in the gardens which are opened to the public everyday free of charge. Maybe next time in spring so that I can see these gardens in full bloom.

i'm so in love :)
Lucky you, that you have visited Versailles in winter! I have been in August this year, and the crowd drove me crazy! Next time, I have to visit Versailles in winter, so that I can enjoy seeing every room without people hunting me behind. :-)
This is a wonderful post! I love every single picture here. :-)
