While we haven’t bought a winter coat yet, here it comes the Milan Fashion Week Spring Summer 2014. The key to a less stressful 7 days of runway shows, collection presentations and parties is the organisation. I will be reporting live from Milan and have already prepared the work kit. Having cut down to 9 must have things ‘Less is more’ will be my motto.
- Smartphone – Staying connected I’ve ditched my old iPhone for the new HTC One smartphone and by doing so I’ve gained 10 hours more of battery life and an amazing camera that can do all sort of shootings with F/2.0 Aperture and UltraPixel Sensor to capture more light. Taking pictures is the main activity during Fashion Week and the camera of a smartphone has become my main feature to look at when choosing one. Moving to Android hasn’t changed my social media use, but thanks to the BlinkFeed now I have on my homepage all my favorite content from Facebook, Twitter and the news. It makes it easier to stay connected all the time while getting the info that I really need.
- Photography – Catching the moment Hopefully this will be my last Fashion Week with my old camera having planned moving to a full-frame camera body. I can’t decide yet which one will serve better my needs so I’m sticking to my Canon 550D. For fashion week I use a two lenses; a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II and a Canon EF-S 18-135mm. I use the zooming lens for runway shootings or events and use the fixed focal lense for everything else because I love the depth of field it gives to the images.
– Beauty – Keeping all together Staying out from 8 am till midnight isn’t easily manageable from the make-up side. I’ve recently discovered the Make Up For Ever Pro-Finish multi-use powder foundation which I use to literally to keep all together during the day. I find it perfect for touch-ups as it hydrates the skin while giving a sheer coverage. Giorgio Armani’s Lip Maestro #402 Chinese Lacquer, in the brightest red I’ve ever had, has a double use: coloring in shining red so that I can be spotted from afar (yes right) and of drawing all the attention to the lips so people won’t care about the how tired the eyes look.
- Organization – Where, When, Why Because when the agenda on my HTC One, connected to every email calendar and also sending reminders every hour, isn’t enough it comes to the rescue the old pen & paper. So inside the bag there is space for a small agenda and my lucky Montblanc.
- People – Say my name Some people need business cards more than others and I’m talking about people with impossible to read names. Mine come with the right pronunciation for both Italian & English. With time I’ve become a professional on phonetics.
- Accessorize – Bling Bling Diamonds might have been a girl’s best friends when Marilyn was going after old men on cruise ships but statement necklaces and costume jewelry are the only friends I’d bring with me on fashion week and all year round especially this new one from Stroili Oro.
– Bag – Liza I don’t know since when calling the bags after women names has become a thing, but now it somehow affects me while choosing one. This embossed croc shoulder bag from REISS comes with the name Liza and I picked her for her color, size, structure and name.
