The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. – Jon Krakauer, Into the Wild
The adventurous spirit has brought people to discover new contintents, climb the highest mountains and discover the underwater world. For the latest, Omega has been designing professional dive watches since 1932. William Beebe in 1934 set a record by being the first person to observe deep-sea animals in their native environment diving at 923m wearing an Omega Mariner, the first ever designed watch for divers. So did Yves Le Prieur, the inventor of Scuba, the sea explorer Jacques Cousteau who used to wear an Omega Seamaster PloProf, and the record breaking diver Jacques Mayol who used to wear an Omega Seamaster.
And than there is me. The closest I’ve been to diving is snorkeling for hours in the Red Sea looking for Nemo, because I had read that it was the habitat of the clownfish. It might not look like an adventure per se, but in 2014 seems like nothing is left to be uncovered for the world but everything is still there to be discovered for us. Just like on my favorite book Into The Wild, new experiences and a different sun make our life an adventure that nurtures our spirits. Most of us might not use a dive wristwatch to go under the sea, but its sporty design and durable materials make it a great watch for our own feats.
I wore the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean for a more creative and sporty look during Milan Fashion Week. A design which I find as fashionable with its white ceramic bazel and white polished dial as technically innovative with its Co-Axial caliber.
During Milan Fashion Week I’ll be styling 5 Omega watches, all with a distinctive design, within my daily outfits. Check out the business chic look the Omega Aqua Terra , the ladylike look with Omega Ladymatic and the strong styling with Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon.
