When spring knocks on the door it is time to switch wardrobe, makeup, and fragrances. If you are a fragrance collector like me, the latter will be on the top of your list. But if one fragrance at a time is how you roll, then here you have 9 new Spring 2017 fragrances to choose from. This time I’ve also included 2 new fragrances for men because I find myself using them even though I pretend to shop them for the boyfriend. The next step is switching the clothes and for that, you can read about the latest Spring Summer 2017 Trends but I’ve also paired the fragrances with the latest Spring collections from the runway.
Byredo Bibliotheque Fragrance
- Top notes: peach and plum
- Middle notes: peony and violet
- Base notes: patchouli, vanilla, and musk.
When the clients ask, Byredo answers and I think there might have been thousands of requests to transform Byredo’s best selling candle into a personal fragrance. Finally, we can smell like an old library and feel amazing about it. I’ve paired this new Byredo Bibliotheque fragrance (release March 2017) with my favorite NYFW Spring Summer 2017 collection from Delpozo, because that is how I want to dress when reading a book while having Byredo Bibliotheque on.
Clandestine Clara Penhaligon`s perfume
- Top notes: Rhum Vanilla
- Middle notes: Cinnamon Musk
- Base notes: Ambery Patchouli
Penhaligon’s perfumes have interesting fictional background stories that will captivate you every time. Last year we were introduced to Lord George, a wealthy and respected man that smelled like brandy and shaving soap. In February 2017 we get to know Clandestine Clara, Lord George’s mistress. A free spirited woman that is spicy and sweet, smelling so gourmand that you can eat it. In my imagination, she is wearing Erdem Spring Summer 2017 a collection that was inspired by the lost wardrobe of a lady-in-waiting for the wife of Charles I of England. It was 1642, and a ship traveling to Netherlands sunk with its contents and the Crown Jewels of Queen Henrietta Maria. I’m making up my own stories here, but can’t wait for the next character in Penhaligon’s Portrait Series.
Gucci Guilty Absolute Gucci cologne
- Top notes: Leather
- Middle notes: Patchouli
- Base notes: Goldenwood and Vetiver
Given that I’d shop Gucci’s men wardrobe with the same passion I’d do with the womenswear I think the new Gucci Guilty Absolute can get the same treatment. The composition of this cologne is very peculiar because the top and middle notes are all ingredients that are usually used as base notes. It seems like whatever Alessandro Michele touches turns into something special, so even this perfume in collaboration with perfumier Alberto Morillas is a particular blend that remains unchanged when applied to the skin. The final result is a dry woody scent. I’m sold and so is the boyfriend.
Love Story Eau Sensuelle Chloe perfume
- Top notes: Orange Blossom
- Middle notes: Vanilla of Heliotrope
- Base notes: Sandalwood
Chloé fragrances tell the same sweet and romantic story of its fashion collections. The Chloé Love Story series of fragrances is inspired by the love padlocks on the bridge of Pont des Arts. In the story that Chloé wants to tell with this Love Story Eay Sensuelle, there is a woman running along the Seine with the excitement of a blooming romance. He is fascinated. She is unwittingly seductive. She perfectly embodies Chloé’s femininity. And I bet this romance was born on Tinder.
Miu Miu L’eau Bleue perfume
- Top notes: Lily of the valley
- Middle notes: Green notes, White Flowers
- Base notes: Akigalawood
There is a recurring water theme this Spring at Miu Miu. Miuccia showed on the runway a theme inspired by the beach style of the 60s. Models were wearing wedge sandals embossed with shells and starfish, swimsuits and daisy print dresses. To go with this mood comes the new version of Miu Miu’s perfume Miu Miu L’Eau Bleue that is light and sparkly like a Spring morning awakening.
Signorina In Fiore Salvatore Ferragamo perfume
- Top notes: Nashi Pear sorbet and Pomegranate
- Middle notes: Cherry blossom and Jasmine
- Base notes: White musk and Sandalwood
Salvatore Ferragamo’s most successful fragrance has literally blossomed this spring 2017 with Signorina in Fiore as an addition to a flower print heavy Spring-Summer fashion collection. A clean, classic and feminine scent, this is the perfect fragrance to give someone as a gift.
Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Floral Shock
- Top notes: Bergamot Essence, Pear, Freesia
- Middle notes: Orange Blossom Absolute, Golden Gardenia, Solar-floral accord
- Base notes: Coffee Accord, Sandalwood Accord, Vanilla
YSL has finally figured a way to get a spring version out of the Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium fragrance with its coffee and vanilla accords that made it dark and perfect for winter. With the addition of new floral notes of gardenia and orange blossom, the classic Black Opium becomes fresh. To me, it still feels like a dark fragrance, but that is ok because also on the runway Saint Laurent Spring Summer 2017 was all leather and blacks. Completing this spring YSL look comes also The Shock volumizing mascara.
L’Occitane Cerisier Pastel Eau Légère
- Top notes: Ambrette, Bergamot, Pear, Pink pepper
- Middle notes: Cherry blossom, Jasmine, Cherry juice, Rosa centifolia
- Base notes: Heliotrope, Vanilla, Hawthorn
Confession time: I apply any L’Occitane fragrance that is at hand before going to bed. They feel all warm, clean and make me sleep better. This new limited edition has also two natural extracts from the Lubéron region of Provence: cherry extract and cherry blossom floral water. With L’Occitane is like having Provence in a bottle. I’ve paired Cerisier Pastel Eau Légère with Vivetta’s Spring Summer 2017 collection because of how dreamy her clothes are and I could see myself in the fields of Provence picking flowers, wearing a sheer dress and feeling fabulous.
Azzaro Wanted Fragrance For Him
- Top notes: Lemon, Ginger
- Middle notes: Cardamom, Juniper Berries
- Base notes: Vetiver, Tonka Bean
There has been at least one man in our life smelling of Azzaro Chrome, I can count more than 3 in mine. I’ve just discovered they also do fashion collections because in my mind Azzaro has always been about men fragrances. Those men fragrances that smell of pure masculinity. The Azzaro Wanted is a mix of woody, citrus and spicy notes inside a bottle that is designed in the shape of revolver’s loading chamber.
Christian Dior Poison Girl perfume
- Top notes: Bitter Orange
- Middle notes: The Grasse Rose
- Base notes: Venezuelan Tonka Beans
Now finally we can wear our mom’s favorite fragrance in a younger version. I know Dior Poison fans that have used it as the only fragrance for years and will never dare to change, not even in a bitter-sweet version of the original. They don’t know what they are missing because this Dior Poison Girl created by Francois Demachy ( who has basically created 90% of Dior’s fragrances) brings a playful tone making it airy and fresh, perfect for Spring.
Roberto Cavalli Paradiso Assoluto
- Top notes: Red pepper, Wild Jasmine
- Middle notes: Red Lily
- Base notes: Patchouli, Sandalwood, and Vanilla
Roberto Cavalli Paradiso Assoluto is the gate to a garden full of exotics plants where an intense scent is coming from red flowers that surround you. Of course, it goes perfectly with the 70s inspired free spirit mood from the latest collection at Cavalli by Peter Dundas. Float in skinny flares and fringed shawls while smelling like a modern hippie.
This was a selection of my favorite Spring Fragrances that I’ve tried this month and loved. If you have any other suggestion write me at @AnjaTufina.
