Women’s March at Missoni

missoni fall winter 2017 2018 women march pussy hats

Watching the Missoni Fall Winter 2017 2018 collection come down the runway just puts a smile on your face. Not only because of the bold prints, but because designer Angela Missoni takes into account the current state of femininity. The designer used these eccentric prints on high-neck knits, long coats, and skirts in fine materials paired with kitten-heeled leather boots. The main colors used in the collection were red, turquoise, yellow, and pink used in a tartan pattern. It is a collection of pleated and ribbed textures that create a piece of art for the eye to follow down the runway with the playfulness of colors. The pops of color, patterns, and mix of glitter makes you excited for the cold days of winter.

Angela Missoni’s inspiration for this show was the pink morning hues of Monte Rosa, which stands for femininity and strength. In fact, the mountain has always been her inspiration throughout her twenty-plus years as a designer. Through this collection, Angela shows us a modern femininity that looks at the condition of today’s females: fighting for their rights and liberties. The collection highlights a versatile fashion that was made for all women.

Of course, possibly the best part of the collection was when the models came out for their final walk and all had on a pink pussy hat. These hats have been seen all over the world and are a symbol of resistance and power for feminists fighting for equal rights. These same hats are for sale on the Missoni website where the proceeds go to the Italian branch of The Circle. The Circle is comprised of a group of women from different backgrounds and careers that use their skills to spread awareness for change. Angela Missoni has always stood for female strength, and now she is contributing to it.
