Monochrome Summer

I picked the most comfortable look for a long day of walking at the Venice Biennale 2013 while trying to understand what is modern art. While I have no background in judging any piece of artwork presented, I could tell that there is something in the mind of artists that doesn't want us to understand. I found this quote from the famous comic strip Calvin and Hobbes which answered my question: 

“People always make the mistake of thinking art is created for them. But really, art is a private language for sophisticates to congratulate themselves on their superiority to the rest of the world. As my artist’s statement explains, my work is utterly incomprehensible and is therefore full of deep significance.”

What's the story of your shoes?

#aPassoDiDonna Heel, flat or sport shoes we always have a story to tell for every pair of them. Women pick special shoes for every special event, let it be graduation from university, our wedding or our first job interview. Io Donna Magazine in collaboration with Alberto Guardiani want to know these stories. Everyone can participate by sending a picture of their shoes and their special story in 140 characters. The winner will get 4 pair of shoes with which to live new adventures and create new stories. (participate here)

Venice Biennale 2013 with Samsung Galaxy S4

This was my first time visit to the Venice Biennale, the contemporary art event that dates 100 years back and is one of the most important art exhibitions in the world. The 55th edition which runs from June 1st till November 24th 2013 has the title The Encyclopedic Palace. This year's exhibition has the mission to ' reflect on the ways in which images have been used to organize knowledge and shape our experience of the world". While my mission was to capture the event through the lens of the new Samsung Galaxy S4 camera and add more images to the fantasy based Encyclipedic Palace.

In the past I've been a Blackberry Bold and then an iPhone 4S user so this was my first time use of a Galaxy smartphone. It took me only few hours to figure out how the new toy worked and then I was ready to do all my blogging work, which consists of tweet-ing, tumbler-ing, facebook-ing, instagram-ing, pinning... ok better if I stop here. Actually this time me and my travel mate Lucia did a step further by adding to the million Harlem Shake videos online our own edition. 

Enjoy my photographic reportage with Samsung Galaxy S4. I must say it was a new feeling not having to worry about the battery life and  the quality of the images (samsung galaxy S4 has a 8MP camera). 

Questa era la mia prima visita alla Biennale di Venezia, l'evento d'arte contemporanea che risale a 100 anni fa ed è una dei più importanti eventi d'arte del mondo. La 55° edizione che si svolgerà dal 1 giugno al 24 novembre 2013 ha il titolo Il Palazzo Enciclopedico. Quest'anno la mostra ha la missione di 'una riflessione sui modi in cui le immagini sono utilizzate per organizzare la conoscenza e per dare forma alla nostra esperienza del mondo. ". Mentre la mia missione era quella di catturare l'evento attraverso il nuovo  Samsung Galaxy S4 e aggiungere altre immagini quella fantasia che è il Palazzo Enciclipedico.

Nel tempo sono passata da un Blackberry Bold a un iPhone 4S, e questo è stato il mio primo utilizzo di uno smartphone Samsung Galaxy. Ci sono volute solo poche ore per capire come funzionava il nuovo giocattolo per preprarmi al mio lavoro di blogging, che consiste in tweet-are, tumbler-are, facebook-are, instagram-are, pin-are ... ok meglio se mi fermo qua. In realtà questa volta io e la mia compagna di avventure Lucia abbiamo fatto un ulteriore passo avanti con l'aggiunta ai milioni di video Harlem Shake che si trovano on-line con la nostra versione Hotel Sconnection. 

Qua sotto trovere il mio reportage fotografico fatto interamente con il Samsung Galaxy S4. Devo dire che è stata una sensazione nuova non doversi preoccupare della durata della batteria e la qualità delle immagini (Samsung Galaxy S4 dispone di una fotocamera da 8 megapixel).

All That Glisters Is Not Gold

What I've always loved about Venice is that it is a labyrinth made of small passages and bridges, which apparently all look the same so the first time you get there you'll get lost for sure. Venetians walk a lot, so when you ask them how can you go from point A to point B they won't ever tell you what ferry boat to take, they'll go on and explain you how to reach your destination on foot. This happened even with our hotel concierge which showed us the way to get to the Krug & Samsung Dinner through bridges, small squares and narrow streets. 'It is just a 20min walk from Piazza San Marco to Palazzo Grassi' he told me with a smile without taking in consideration the evening dress and the high heel shoes. Fortunately we didn't get lost and took the chance to get to know Venice better while reaching our dinner location. The long walk helped also our appetite.
